Nestled in a valley of the Waterberg, just 20km outside of Bela-Bela, lies this 700-ha hidden gem, the best that mother nature has to offer – the sights and sounds of true wild African bushveld, named Budapest Game Farm.
Owners, Verna and Phillip Barton, purchased the property in 2015 as a weekend retreat to escape the stresses of the Big City and Corporate Life to recharge and revitalise. Finding true tranquility, Verna named the farm “Budapest” inspired by the similarities and formation of the beautiful European city, Budapest.

Falling in love with this little piece of heaven on earth during their weekend retreats from modern life, Budapest became the full-time home of Verna and Phillip in 2019 upon retirement from his corporate career.
With their love of the land and its surroundings, they poured heart and soul into the development of their “Valley Lodge” to share and avail it to guests to experience and find peace, be revitalised, and find their own tranquility surrounded by the beauty of nature with on par luxury self-catering accommodation.
